How to Write Newspaper or
Magazine Article Query Letters

You can earn a full-time or part-time income writing for newspapers and magazines on a freelance basis. However, there is a process you need to follow if you want to write for newspapers or magazine. To become a freelance writer, you need to

  • develop article ideas
  • identify  editors at appropriate publications
  • write stellar query letters that sell your idea and sell you as the person to write the article
  • submit and follow-up on your query letter in a timely manner.
This e-course will help you develop article ideas and write query letters based on samples in the Business of Freelance Writing: How to Develop Article Ideas and Sell Them to Newspapers and Magazines. Before sending the queries to editors, you'll email three of them to Paul for assessment and detailed, constructive feedback. The course also includes information on how to submit and follow-up on your queries.
